Jerry Barton > Happy Bird
2012-03-13 One happy Egret who just swallowed a little lizard (and one slightly unhappy photographer who didn't get in place soon enough). Enjoy your day.
Jerry Barton > Fledglings
2012-03-12 These are Anhinga chicks. Already learning how to hold their wings out for drying even though they haven't left the nest. Seen at the Venice FL rookery.
Many thanks for the comments on the papa Anhinga shot.
Jerry Barton > Look what I found for you, dear
2012-03-11 A male Anhinga bringing home some nest-building material.

Many thanks for the comments on yesterday's Egret shot. Much appreciated.
Jerry Barton > Great Egret
2012-03-10 As seen at the Venice FL rookery.
And thanks for the comments on my buzzard picture.
Update: @RuSu - the brighter green is due to active hormones this time of year.
Jerry Barton > Uplifting Updraft
2012-03-08 Plenty of Turkey Buzzards around, looking for 'garbage' that they can clean up.

Thanks for the comments on my pelican shot.
Jerry Barton > Just a brown pelican
2012-03-07 When you go to fishing docks, you find pelicans that are not shy. Even though I didn't have a fish, I got fairly close to this one (still using the telephoto lens, though).
Thanks for the comments about the eagles - one of my two best eagle shots.
Jerry Barton > Eagles
2012-03-06 This pair has a nest in Cedar Point State Park, Florida. They are caring for a second set of eggs, since the first ones didn't survive this year. I took some OK shots in the morning - but the sun was behind the nest, so I came back just before sunset.
Thanks for the kind comments on yesterday's egret shot!
Jerry Barton > We have Lift-off
2012-03-05 The snowy egret was once endangered but has made a good comeback. This one on a dock in Punta Gorda, Florida thought I was getting too close.
Jerry Barton > Florida Dawn
2012-03-02 Well here I am in Florida again. I stepped outside my apartment this morning just before dawn and took this shot. Can you spot the alligator? Greetings!
And thanks for all the comments on the shot of the young lady last week.
Jerry Barton > Teaser or Truth?
2012-02-26 This charming young lady saw me fiddling with my camera gear and asked "Are you dressed up pretending to be a photographer?". So I had to take her picture to prove that I am (more or less really) a photographer.

Many thanks for the wonderful comments on yesterday's skater. Amazing.
Jerry Barton > Cool running
2012-02-25 Continuing yesterday's theme of ice skating, here is someone cruising along trying to look like Daniel Craig. Thanks for the comments on yesterday's shot - much appreciated.
Jerry Barton > Pirate
2012-02-24 Every winter, the city of Vienna creates a large ice skating rink in front of City Hall. Last Tuesday was costume day (Mardi Gras, Faschingsdienstag). Not many people actually dressed up. Here is one at least with a pirate's hat.
Jerry Barton > Bathing Beach
2012-02-08 The Gänslhäufel island is a favorite swimming area in Vienna - easily reached by public transportation, it is surrounded by the almost still waters of the "Alte Donau" - a cut-off arm of the Danube. In summer, the place is packed. Now one can walk across the ice and get onto the island for free. Still very cold here, and this is our first real snow.
Jerry Barton > Crossing the park
2012-02-03 This is the 40m high steel cross erected in 1983 in the park in Vienna where Pope John Paul II celebrated a mass. It was recently refurbished. Joggers, walkers, sports teams, picnickers, tourists, etc use the park now.
Jerry Barton > Last Bridge
2012-01-30 That little sliver of blue is actually the Danube River. This bridge over the Danube (and the adjoining wetlands) is the eastern-most bridge in Austria. For several decades, the road ran parallel to the iron curtain. Now it is just a convenient way between north-eastern Austria and Bratislava.

Many thanks for the kind comments on my reeds. The very strange (for eastern Austria) below freezing and clear air made a special light.
