Alpacas 2010-09-21 Today's picture is of the camels at the baroque palace Schloss Hof on Austria's eastern border. They had been banned to the stables so a horse race could take place. Guess which one is the alpha male. Schloss Hof has an active program of breeding old indigenous animals- but these alpacas belong to the other side, i.e. breeding some of the animals kept at baroque palaces. Thanks for your comments on my nuts/fruit salesman yesterday. Much appreciated.
I'm shy 2010-09-13 Say hello to Tuluba - he was one month old when this shot was taken a week ago. He still likes to hide beneath her mother. he can already pick up little bread pieces with his trunk and is getting more agile day by day. Not the finest quality picture I've ever taken, but seeing (or trying to see) this young kid was the reason we went to the zoo last Monday. Bright light and dark shadow and far away. Many many thanks for your comments on Edward at Yellowstone. I'm still working through the 200 or so 'embarrassing' shots to put in a private gallery.
