Special Day
2012-08-08 I'm putting together a small book of Adams baptism celebration (which was joyful in church and then went elsewhere and continued for hours with many friends of his parents and lots of African food). This shot will be the main one in the book.
Many thanks for your kind comments on yesterday's fashion shot. Much appreciated.
Marble column
2010-05-15 One more from the Jesuit Church. A few different styles of columns have been holding up the balconies for the last three centuries.
Have a wonderful day.
Altar very Empor
2012-05-14 Another shot from the Jesuit Church in Vienna, showing the trinity above the high altar (i.e. 180 degrees from yesterday's shot).
Many thanks for yesterday's comments.
Walcker organ 1878
2011-11-12 This week I had the chance to 'visit' the organ of the Votive Church (Votivkirche) here in Vienna. Renovated in 1996, it is still the original organ dating from the construction of the church. 61 registers, 3 manuals. And it sounds wonderful. This church received very little damage in the war. Here you see a shot of the other 'colleagues' up in the organ loft during the explanation (I had returned downstairs due to some vertigo up there). [and the perspective has therefore been straightened]
It's organ season again
2011-11-04 The season for organ concerts has started again here. This is the organ in the church of Vienna's central cemetery - the art nouveau jewel I've featured before. The organ was expertly played by a young Slovak organist. Normally the cemetery is closed after dark, but the city opened it for us.
Another Candid Portrait
2011-09-21 Another shot from Saturday's boat ride. This young guy speaks more languages than I do, was great fun on the trip, and even helped to row. I didn't do much here except remove noise, lighten the center a bit, and crop.
Stroke, Stroke ...
2011-09-19 A candid shot on Saturday's Danube 'cruise' with friends. The captain made/let the passengers row - but only out of the harbour into the stream of the Danube. A really international and friendly group of people - everyone had a good time. The boat is a replica of a 17th century military patrol boat used along the whole length of the Danube, called a Tschaike.
Birthday Girl
2011-09-19 I had arranged a boat trip on the Danube last Saturday, and this young lady's husband turned it into a large, fun, birthday party for her - a round birthday, but I won't say which. I'm not very experienced with portraits, and this is a candid shot on the boat. Mother of two wonderful daughters, working, born in Malaysia, married and living here in Vienna, active in the church [which is how I know her]. I did try some digital make-up here, smoothing the skin a bit and adding a very small bit of glow. I hope it isn't too obvious.
Spires
2011-09-12 Looking slightly south of east with the sun behind Vienna's first mosque, dedicated in 1979 with a 32m high minaret. Behind it is the "Danube Tower", with an observation deck and restaurant 152m above ground.

Yesterday's shot of stairs didn't meet with much approval (or with some hearty disapproval by a few). Oh well. Another day, another shot.
