Recycling a castle Very little is known about this castle near Losenheim, Lower Austria, except that it probably was built in the late 13th century and was a total ruin - just a jumble of stones and a few walls. The private owner has been recreating it for the last several years. (And I see that some of the "Enzos" - the red plastic benches - have been recycled from Vienna's Museum Quarter to Losenheim, too.)
The way to Snow Mountain The Schneeberg is the first (or last) alpine mountain over 2000m. It is about an hour south of Vienna, so is known as Vienna's "local mountain". I've climbed it several times - but not recently. Last Saturday I was content with a hike along the low hills.
Only for Cows I saw this sign in an Alpine valley south of Vienna. It doesn't translate well. Literally, it means "These meadows may only be walked on by cows." But "to be a cow" is a common insult in Austria - it is even in the dictionary as "someone who is really stupid and apt to cause problems."
