The way to Snow Mountain The Schneeberg is the first (or last) alpine mountain over 2000m. It is about an hour south of Vienna, so is known as Vienna's "local mountain". I've climbed it several times - but not recently. Last Saturday I was content with a hike along the low hills.
Only for Cows I saw this sign in an Alpine valley south of Vienna. It doesn't translate well. Literally, it means "These meadows may only be walked on by cows." But "to be a cow" is a common insult in Austria - it is even in the dictionary as "someone who is really stupid and apt to cause problems."
To be a student in Graz. There is a student song from 1925 about studying in this southern Austrian city: Student sein in Graz, wenn der Flieder blüht, Student sein in Graz, wenn das Weinlaub glüht, Wenn im Herzen die feurige Jugendlust brennt, Student sein in Graz, Student sein, Student! To study in Graz when the lilac blooms, To study in Graz when the vineyards glow, To study in Graz while the hot desires of youth burn, Oh student, to study in Graz!
