Gargoyle 2011-08-14 This monkey adorns the gothic chancel of the Aachen Cathedral. It was added to the original octagonal chapel in the 14th century, as more and more pilgrims came to Aachen. Looking at the picture, I think this is a recent (1980s?) replica. After all, a cathedral is a permanent construction site. And thanks to both of you who found yesterday's picture and commented.
