Above Mt. Blanc
Where the Lake becomes the River Behind the bridge (Pont de Mont Blanc - totally clogged with vehicles day and night) the water is Lake Geneva. In front of the bridge, the water is the beginning of the Rhone river. Behind the bridge is the landmark Jet d'Eau (English translation Jet d'Eau Fountain). Don't get confused by the Ferris Wheel - Geneva is a serious place. But for three weeks in summer, amusement rides and food stalls are erected along the banks of the lake. This year was reportedly good - 5% of the population visited the fair. Another shot from my old HTC. The white fringing was created in the phone, and I didn't bother to remove it.
This is (more or less) the view from my office in Geneva 1999-2002. [My office was one floor higher and slightly to the right]. The Ariana Park on the grounds of the Palais des Nations (UN headquarters Geneva, former headquarters of the League of Nations). A slice of Lake Geneva is visible. The white bit just right of centre in the background is the Mont Blanc, 4,807 m high, about 80km away from Geneva. [Another shot just with my old phone.]
