Þingvellavatn Þingvellavatn
Cairns and Rainbow More common features - rainbows and piles of stones. We argued the entire trip about whether these piles could be natural. Big cairns were erected to serve as route markers in rural areas. The small ones, it is said, were made by elves.
Lava and Moss The predominant feature of the landscape. The moss (actually a lichen) grows first on the lava. In the background, small trees, grasses, and lupins.
