Boat Over Water This is NOT a picture of a boat being removed from the waterway for non-payment of the annual license fee (although I wish that more such boats were removed). It is a picture of a freshly 'blacked' (i.e. bottom painted) boat being returned to the canal. They had to empty the onboard water tanks before the boat would stay level in the hoist. So until next year... (providing I can save enough to afford the trip)
The Light Tunnels are fun. This tunnel - less than 200 m. long is straight and fairly dry. And two boats can pass in the tunnel. The 'new' tunnel cut about 11 miles off the original route of the canal. Update: (six hours later). Posting before breakfast, I forgot the lexicon challenge. So the word that fits this picture is "Paraproskokian", a figure of speech in which the latter part of a sentence, phrase, or larger discourse is surprising or unexpected in a way that causes the reader or listener to reframe or reinterpret the first part (Wikipedia).
Cosy in Coventry This shot effectively ends my series of canal pictures from our recent trip. It shows the Coventry Canal Basin, which was renovated a few years ago. That is our boat. We pulled into Coventry on a bright afternoon. It started to rain in the evening. The next day's weather was horrible - heavy rains and gale force winds - so we decided not to move at all and to spend a second night still moored up in Coventry - snug and warm in our floating home. And thanks for ranking yesterday's damselfly shot under the top five. Much appreciated.
