The Skipper himself 2010-10-31 Exceptionally, a photo not taken by me. Here I am piloting the boat along the Union Canal in Scotland, just having crossed the Greenbank Aqueduct. I must confess that I haven't been commenting as I should the last couple of days. How busy we get. Next week looks better. I still have to work on the rest of my Scotland photos, too.
Auchinstarry Quarry 2010-10-29 This quarry is usually populated by climbers as well as swans - but not at the end of September. It is close to the Auchinstarry canal basin and is a pleasant walk from the town of Kilsyth in Scotland.
Entering Edinburgh 2010-10-17 The Union Canal ends in Edinburgh at a basin walking distance from the castle. The entrance to the basin is blocked by a pedestrian bridge. A boat skipper has to call ahead and ask for the bridge to be raised. Edinburgh Castle: http://www.jerrybarton.eu/gallery/8070611_LvnXc#1065894851_cCQet-A-LB You all were very kind with your comments on my 'early morning on the canal' picture yesterday.
