Early Morning on the Union Canal 2010-10-26 On a brisk walk along the tow path of the Union Canal in Scotland. It was warmer outside than inside the boat, after a clear night. [My first job in the morning was to go outside and start the engine and the heating] Thanks for the wonderful comments on my canal boat "illustration" shot yesterday.
Traffic Jam 2010-10-25 Canals are really made for only two boats at a time, maximum. Here there are about 30 of them, all heading towards Linlithgow, Scotland to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the re-opening of the Union Canal. It caused some maneuvering problems from time to time. I processed this shot to have more of a 'postcard' style - more an illustration than a pure photo. Thanks again for the comments on my autumn wall shot.
The Avon Aqueduct 2010-10-18 This aqueduct carries the Union canal (and canal boats) over the River Avon, near Linlithgow, Scotland. It is 250 meters long and has twelve arches. The water is carried within a cast iron trough.
