Le Petit Hibou 2011-07-28 I'm ending my canal series with a picture of the 'little owl' - a privately owned fairly short (10 meters, 34 feet) narrowboat. We passed it a few times during this trip. This early morning moment is one of the many things I like about canal cruising - quiet silent moments away from the hustle and bustle. Thanks for all your comments during the last week. Now if the weather stays dry, we are off to the zoo today.
Water Sprites 2011-07-27 These two young people were 'guarding' the lock gate. They were having fun. I'm nearing the end of the canal pictures, and have to start on the other trip pictures. And my new battery charger (Canon) just arrived, so I can go out and take pictures again. The old one (non-Canon) sizzled and died a week before the end of the trip. I used my spare battery for the rest of the trip, but it was getting low.
Morning Stroll 2011-07-26 Another bit of nature along the canals. Moor hens abound along the canals, especially ones with reeds and weeds and shallow bits [none of which is good for cruising, but it is one of the charms of narrow boating that you aren't upsetting nature too much]. This one was on an 'island' between two parallel locks of the Hillmorton flight. Many thanks for putting my 'pushing stones' picture under the top ten for the day. Very much appreciated.
