Nuts to you 2010-09-20 Another (final) picture in my mini-series of Naschmarkt pictures. A picture of a nut/candied fruit stand. The 2 liter wine bottles hold 'sturm' ("storm") - half fermented, sweet, yeasty wine. I believe it was named for what it does to your digestive system - but some people really like it. It always appears in autumn. The picture was taken from the top of a nearby restaurant, through glass, while lying on the floor. Many thanks for the comments on the tomatoes yesterday. It seems everybody saw it at breakfast time and you were hungry! [P.S. in our garden we have ivory, yellow, red and purple tomatoes]
Best Food Here! 2010-09-17 One of the men running a stand on Vienna's Naschmarkt - the open air market area just outside the 1st district that has been operating above the covered over Wienfluss (Vienna River) for the last hundred years (and on the sides of the river before that). Today there are many places to eat as well. I thank you for the comments on yesterday's tower. Very encouraging.
Friends 2010-09-06 A street photo from our shopping visit last week to the 'Naschmarkt' - Vienna's largest open air market place, which of course has many places to eat (and drink). Here two friends are sharing a glass of wine and a laugh at noon. Posted a bit late in the day today, but honestly it was such a beautiful autumn day that my wife and I spent most of the day outdoors. There should be a picture or two from our travels around Vienna for tomorrow ;-> Many thanks for the comments about the butterfly on the gravel - and I learned something new about butterflies too!
