Happy Camper 2011-08-16 This young lady was in one of the four canoes (see yesterday's picture). Everyone had been getting very tired of being still in the canoes, working hard, and not having any food for almost three hours. Then they landed, had a picnic, and the kids could run around on the grass. Voila! Happy children. This one posed for me spontaneously, while using an upside-down canoe as a slide. Thanks for all the comments on yesterday's shot. Nobody capsized, everyone got in and out of the canoes without falling in the water. At the end, the fellowship on the grass lasted almost as long as the paddling. It was a very nice day out.
Praise in any Language 2011-07-04 Our English-speaking church in Vienna has five choirs. This is a portion of the "African Singers and Drummers" choirs performing a week ago. We have over forty nationalities in the congregation, so music ranges from Africa to Wesley, including youth and praise and gospel. All very uplifting - and sometimes a bit shocking for a person raised in the US mid-west (like me). Last Sunday this group sang songs from Mozambique and South Africa.
Captain 2011-08-25 Herr Martin is captain of his reconstructed Tschaike that is used for tours on the Danube. A Tschaike is a 16th century long narrow military boat that was rowed. He also has renovated a ship's mill (uses river current to turn the stones). A fun afternoon with him - we are putting together a group for another trip in September. Thanks for your kind comments on my shots in the last couple of days. They haven't been the best - more taken than made, less creative than I try to do. So I appreciate your comments especially.
