Belvedere 2011-02-09 The view from the Lower Belveder to the Upper Belveder palais in Vienna at sunset. It *is* still February, so nothing is growing and the gardeners have protected the flower beds for the winter. The Upper palace contains the Klimt/Schiele/etc collection. The Lower palace (which is also behind me) has rotating exhibitions - the Rodin exhibition just closed.
Ice Anyone? 2011-01-25 A follow-on shot to the one a week ago of the ice rink almost finished. It is now open 9 am to 10 pm. You can skate through the park and over the entire City Hall Square (Rathausplatz). They even rent pre-warmed skates. I had to work on this shot quite a lot to get the noise out - above ISO 400 my camera just is much too noisy (and it is only 3 years old). Many thanks for putting the picture of our first son eating dirt into the top pictures of the day. Yes, a real memory. That shot was taken our first spring in a newly constructed house, and the property was just mud and weeds. So we plowed it and planted grass and trees on 2/3 and a vegetable & fruit garden on the rest.
Snowy Promenade 2010-12-30 This shot was taken before Christmas, near sunset, when there was snow on the ground. Parks like this one have long areas for walking, and are plowed so they can be used all year. I forgot to put up a picture yesterday. Your comments on my escalator shot and other recent shots are much appreciated.
