Through the Veil 2010-07-19 To cross or not to cross? On a hot day, a few cooling drops can be very welcome, but the young man doesn't look too certain. As seen in a park here in Vienna. Many thanks for your comments and identification of the Rose of Sharon picture yesterday.
Belvedere 2010-07-14 I usually don't take 'tourist pictures' in Vienna, but after dropping off my wife for a women's group (in an air conditioned cafe) I decided to go to Belvedere to take pictures of flowers in the gardens and couldn't resist at least one classic shot. So here is a 'postcard shot'. The Palace and grounds were Prince Eugen of Savoy's reward for helping defeat the Turks in 1717 and other military victories for the Habsburg Empire. He was a military leader, diplomat, and advisor to three Austrian emperors.
Justizpalast, 1st district Vienna The Austrian Supreme Court and numerous other justice offices are in this building, constructed (like all Ringstrassen buildings) at the end of the 19th century. The central hall shown here is crowned by a statue of Justicia.
