West Side Market 2011-05-20 The West Side Market in Cleveland, Ohio is a venerable institution, now nearly a century old, built on the site of an open air market from 1840. This shot shows the main concourse of the market hall. Another building next to it houses the furit and vegetable vendors. Unfortunately I visited here briefly on my last day in Cleveland - if I had come earlier I would have done more cooking in my hotel kitchen. I'm very grateful for the comments on my bird shots. Thanks! I'm back home now - time to unpack the camera and head outside.
A bird in the bush I'm back home in Vienna now - this shot was taken two weeks ago in Ohio. A totally yellow, small, fast, shy bird that liked to hide in bushes that made the autofocus almost useless. Perhaps a Yellow Warbler? I never did see its belly.
As schools still were institutions 2011-05-17 A shot as I drove through the center of my home town in Ohio. This was the town high school until 1960 or so, then just the junior high. Now is apparently is no longer used as a school, but the school administration and board offices (and presumably other offices) use it. In the mean time, the town has four elementary schools, my high school is now only junior high, and a new high school has been built.
