Pink Heron (Ardea rosea) is a very rare variety of heron found only in small ponds in amusement parks (i.e. Vienna's Prater) where they feed on strawberry spun sugar and left-over Gambas from the nearby Spanish restaurant.
Heron Sentries Protecting themselves and apparently also the ducks. Seen on the Danube Island in Vienna. Thanks for making yesterday's shot of a 'pink heron' number six for the day. Just to be clear, pink heron are about as common as pink panthers. I was sliding the 'hue' adjustment to clean up the water, and suddenly I had clean water and a pink heron. Glad you enjoyed it. (No manipulation in today's shot.)
Kurious Kestrel The word for Kestrel in German translates as "tower falcon", and indeed this kestrel is sitting on one of the Gothic decorations of the south tower of St. Stephan's Cathedral in central Vienna. A tight crop, handheld effective 560mm telephoto.
