Mourning Dove (Zenaida macroura) My "Florida Birding 101" doesn't list this, but a web friend gave me this designation. It was seen away from the water, between trees. On a barrier island on Florida's Gulf coast. From what I've read online, such doves are not usual Florida residents, but are seen throughout the Caribbean.
