Perfect Landing 2013-01-13 I took a walk yesterday in the Lobau - the Viennese part of the Danube Wetlands national park. The side arms of the Danube are partly frozen, partly not. This duck was obviously used to humans and glided in to see if I had any bread. Wintery again today, and I'm spending the afternoon with a group looking for winter birds in the national park. I am not a duck. European Coot I have a sharp bill and do not have webbed feet. Many thanks for the comments on yesterday's duck, including the ones about 'flat'. I played with it a bit but wasn't totally satisfied myself. And the bird-watching yesterday was a total waste. Poor weather - grey, foggy, slightly snowing, and a large group of people including children. No even any birds at the feeders.
