Autumn Admiral These beautiful butterflies can't always winter in Austria, but they arrive from the south in the autumn, feasting on the few blossoms, like this goldenrod, and on rotten fruit. Seen here in the Lobau park in Vienna.
Ruddy Darters The female is carrying fertilized eggs, and they are depositing them in the 'drop and hover' pattern where the female just touches the surface of the water. When she is done, the male will release her.
