Painted Lady A shot of a "painted lady" butterfly (in German, Thistle Butterfly) on lavender. Usually very common, but the first I've seen this year.
Photo Shoot "Head a bit to the left, now smile - hold it - perfect" This Black-tailed Skimmer was soaking up some rays, including from the metal grid holding some stones together - and seemed to be enjoying it. Best in larger sizes where the "face" is more obvious.
Only Perch Around Seen at a 'beach' in Vienna (i.e. at the edge of a pond the city has spread sand for a stretch about 2 meters wide and 20 meters long). So obviously it wasn't the only grass around, but this lone shoot stood up and a Ruddy Darter took a rest. [ In my opinion, the shot would have been better lower down, but I was still in office trousers]
