Still Summer 2011-09-14 The days are growing shorter, but these flowers are still blooming away. A neighbour has a long line of them growing outside her fence, along the street. They are eye height and so numerous you can hardly see the fence. I stopped the other day to tell her that one day I would take a picture of them. Yesterday I did. Many thanks for the comments on the swimming picture. Much appreciated. [and yes, the slide makes a fun way to get into the water - but it still isn't easy getting back out of the water]
Large White 2011-08-26 Pieris brassicae. This is a much much better picture (in my humble opinion) of these small white butterflies currently flitting everywhere. A slightly different species - but when they are flying, you can't tell the difference. This one is resting briefly on a sorrel leaf in our garden. I went out before it got too hot and caught this shot. Many thanks for the comments on yesterday's portrait - esp. to those of you who found the picture. It disappeared for about six hours from the 'dailies'.
Another Sage 2011-06-13 My wife has several sage plants in our garden. This one is Clary Sage. For this shot I didn't have to get down low - the blossoms were at eye height and a single leaf is larger than my hand.
