Yes, palm trees grow in Vienna - at least in parks with the wonderful city gardeners taking care of them. One park has 'theme gardens' and this shot is from the Prehistoric Garden - and the trees are continually misted.
This shot shows 20% of our potential pear harvest this year. Some years more, this year fewer. The are an 'indigenous' variety, i.e. the tree was here before we were. They tend to be sweet and very firm, so are excellent for baking . [My favorite: pear slices, brie & Camembert wrapped in strudel dough, sprinkle caraway seeds on top and bake. ] To answer Terry's question yesterday - the ivory egg tomatoes are sweet and firm. I like to cut them up into salads.
