Observing Florida in March was the source of many bird pictures. [see my Birds gallery for all of them: http://www.jerrybarton.eu/Animals/Bird/] I'll only list two here. This osprey was cruising just offshore. The shot is a tad over-sharpened but I like the direct gaze and the composition.

Hitching a ride I didn't even notice the dragonfly until I saw the shot on my computer. I was taking a close-up of an alligator cruising the Myakka River in Florida.

Pirouette This seal ballet took place at the Vienna Zoo in January. If you look closely you can see the herring disappearing in the star's mouth.

Showing Off March is such a great time for bird watching in Florida. This fellow wanted to make sure he was seen, standing at the top of a mangrove rookery island near Bradenton, Florida.

Defence This little salamander started showing his dewlap when I got too near. Seen in Sarasota, Florida.

Captain of all he sees This rooster is part of a program to re-introduce local types of farm animals. He was strutting his stuff in Schloss Hof in Lower Austria.

Volksgarten, Vienna In June I took a whole series of pictures of roses in Vienna. [see my Vienna gallery or my Flowers gallery]. This one worked very well in my opinion. Composition, light, color.

Iconic My favorite Paris shot this year. A 16 second exposure (and yes, she stood there). It's a pity that a still picture cannot capture the lights twinkling on the Eiffel Tower - they merged together to give a nice outline though.

In August I did a bit of 'fashion photography' at an open air fashion show put on by a museum, showing clothes through the ages. It was hot and bright. I spotted a place to stand across the courtyard where I could shoot over the heads of the crowd. This farmer was my best shot.

Summer Dreams Two of the standing stones at Avebury, UK. Much more accessible than Stonehenge and an order of magnitude fewer visiters.

Bath Morning Dawn in Bath, UK. This shot had some tonal contrast processing to pick up the details, but the light is 'original' - warm tones on the Bath Stone. This is (one of) the River Avon.

Dancing Water A fairly fast exposure of water falling off a fountain in the town centre of Stratford-Upon-Avon.

The Fallow Season I don't do much Black and White. This shot benefited from the stark contrast. Vineyard on the Eastern border of Austria.
